{"id":71,"date":"2013-08-07T11:26:29","date_gmt":"2013-08-07T05:56:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.innovationm.com\/blog\/?p=71"},"modified":"2014-01-31T12:41:04","modified_gmt":"2014-01-31T07:11:04","slug":"mobile-experience-officer-meo-at-innovationm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.innovationm.com\/blog\/mobile-experience-officer-meo-at-innovationm\/","title":{"rendered":"Mobile Experience Officer (MEO) at InnovationM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this world of &#8220;quick app&#8221; development, the importance of \u2018<em>user\u00a0experience\u00a0design<\/em>\u2019 is undermined.<\/p>\n<p>Mobile\u00a0solutions are all about\u00a0experiences, and we design experiences\u00a0at InnovationM.\u00a0 Anybody can create a set of screens on\u00a0mobile\u00a0(there is an SDK available!) but when that app goes in the hand of the user, is it simple, intuitive and pleasing enough for the user to stay with it and come back to solve his problem or entertain himself?<\/p>\n<p>At InnovationM, we don\u2019t build \u2018college apps\u2019 or \u2018app in day\u2019 &#8211; we let design take its course (we call it <em>flow-brainstorming-iterations<\/em>) because the end product is not just meant to be liked by the end users but by us as well.<\/p>\n<p>We invite you to meet one of our\u00a0<strong>Mobile\u00a0Experience\u00a0Officers\u00a0 &#8211; MEO!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>What does an MEO do? Three things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Challenges the Best<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><\/strong>What I encourage in my team is to spend 4 hours a week downloading various mobile applications on phones and tablets and just study the various design patterns, principles used in them. Then discuss and challenge each of them and explore how those can be improved. The end result is that you learn a lot. This, however, should not prevent us to look at standard design guidelines from Apple and Android.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Builds it for the User, not the Client<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A mobile solution success hinges on just one thing: how users perceive it. \u201cDoes the mobile solution give me value? Is it easy to use? Is it pleasant to use?\u201d These are the questions that run through the minds of users as they interact with our products, and they form the basis of their decisions on whether to become regular users. At InnovationM, we build mobile solutions for the user and in all our designs UX\/UI is the core.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Takes Responsible Decisions for the Client<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We do not teach mobile design to our clients but we show them that we understand what they hired us for. More difficult than the design itself is to take design decisions for a product which clients love the most. It\u2019s a responsible job that we take up at InnovationM!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>So, who is the Mobile Experience Officer (MEO) at InnovationM?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s Everyone!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Every Designer,<\/li>\n<li>Every Developer, and<\/li>\n<li>Every QA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s not just the designer who is responsible for a better design but everyone involved in the project is.
