LLM development services

LLM development refers to designing, adapting and deploying large language models and the applications around them, so a model can answer, write, classify or act on your business data reliably.

As an LLM development services company in the USA, InnovationM builds production applications on models such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama and Mistral. The work spans model selection, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), fine-tuning, tool calling, evaluation, guardrails and private deployment on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

InnovationM works with product and engineering teams that have a promising pilot and need it to hold up with real users, real data and a real budget. Some clients need one well-scoped assistant; others need a shared LLM platform that several business units can build on.

Why InnovationM for LLM development?

Evaluation before scale

Every engagement starts with an evaluation set built from your own questions, documents and edge cases. InnovationM scores accuracy, groundedness, latency and cost per request, so decisions about models and prompts rest on numbers.

Right-sized models

A frontier model is not always the best fit. InnovationM compares hosted models with smaller open-weight and fine-tuned options, and often pairs a large model for hard requests with a smaller one for routine work to control cost.

Model-agnostic architecture

Providers change pricing, limits and model versions often. InnovationM designs an abstraction layer for prompts, routing and evaluation, so your application can switch or combine models without a rewrite.

LLM engineering backed by software engineering

A model is one component of the product. The same teams build the APIs, data pipelines, user interfaces and integrations, drawing on InnovationM's broader AI development services practice.

Security and data control by design

Prompts and retrieved context often carry sensitive data. InnovationM follows ISO 27001 practices, applies access controls and redaction, and can deploy models inside your own cloud account or on private infrastructure when data must stay in your environment.

LLM consulting and model selection

The first decision is which model, hosted where, and adapted how. InnovationM benchmarks candidate models on your evaluation set and weighs accuracy, latency, cost, context length and data-residency needs.

The output is a clear recommendation and architecture, often shaped alongside AI consulting work.

  • Use-case scoping and feasibility checks
  • Model benchmarking (hosted and open-weight)
  • Build vs buy assessment
  • Cost and latency modeling
  • Data readiness review
  • Reference architecture and roadmap

InnovationM builds complete LLM products, from the backend and orchestration layer to the interface people use every day. Assistants, copilots, drafting tools and summarization features are designed around the workflow they support.

  • Enterprise assistants and copilots
  • Content drafting and summarization tools
  • LLM-powered search experiences
  • Conversational interfaces through a chatbot or voice channel
  • Streaming APIs and backend services
  • Web and mobile front ends
  • Feedback capture and analytics

RAG lets a model answer from your current documents instead of its training data. InnovationM designs chunking, embeddings, hybrid search and re-ranking, then measures retrieval quality separately from answer quality.

  • Document ingestion and chunking strategies
  • Embedding model selection
  • Vector and hybrid search
  • Re-ranking and query rewriting
  • Permission-aware retrieval
  • Citations and grounding checks

Fine-tuning suits tasks with a consistent format, tone or domain vocabulary. InnovationM curates training data, runs parameter-efficient methods such as LoRA and QLoRA, and compares the tuned model against prompting and RAG baselines before recommending it.

  • Training data curation and labeling
  • Supervised fine-tuning
  • LoRA and QLoRA adaptation
  • Distillation into smaller models
  • Fine-tuning on hosted platforms and open-weight models
  • Before-and-after evaluation reports

Many gains come from structure rather than a new model. InnovationM designs system prompts, structured outputs, function calling and multi-step chains, supported by its prompt engineering practice.

  • System prompt and context design
  • Structured JSON outputs with validation
  • Function and tool calling
  • Multi-model routing
  • Workflow orchestration
  • Prompt versioning and testing

Production LLMs need the same discipline as any other critical service. InnovationM sets up automated evaluation, safety filters, monitoring and cost dashboards, and connects models to existing products through AI integration services.

  • Automated evaluation suites and regression tests
  • Hallucination and groundedness checks
  • PII redaction and content filters
  • Prompt-injection defenses
  • Tracing, logging and observability
  • Token cost and latency monitoring
  • Private deployment on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or on-premises GPUs

Industry-specific LLM development

Terminology, data sensitivity and review rules differ by sector, so InnovationM shapes each LLM system around the industry it serves.

Choosing the right LLM approach

When prompting a hosted model makes sense

General tasks such as drafting, summarizing or classifying short text often work well with a strong hosted model and careful prompts. This is the fastest path to value and a useful baseline for everything else.

When RAG makes sense

Answers that depend on current, private or frequently changing information call for retrieval. RAG keeps the model grounded in your documents and makes it easy to update knowledge without retraining.

When fine-tuning makes sense

Fine-tuning pays off when a task repeats at high volume with a consistent output format or domain language. A tuned smaller model can match a larger one on that task at lower cost and latency. Gartner predicts that by 2027 organizations will use small, task-specific AI models at least three times more than general-purpose LLMs.

When a private or self-hosted LLM makes sense

Strict data-residency rules, regulated data or predictable high volumes can justify running open-weight models in your own environment. InnovationM sizes the infrastructure and compares total cost against hosted APIs first.

When an LLM isn't needed

Not every language task needs a large model. Rules, search, a classic NLP classifier or a well-designed form can be cheaper, faster and easier to audit, and InnovationM will say so when that is the better choice.

Our LLM development process

1

Discovery and use-case definition

InnovationM maps the workflow, users, data sources and success measures. The team agrees on what a good answer looks like and what errors are unacceptable.

2

Data review and evaluation set

Engineers review the documents, records and example conversations available, then build an evaluation set that includes hard and adversarial cases.

3

Model selection and architecture

Candidate models and approaches (prompting, RAG, fine-tuning) are tested against the evaluation set. The chosen architecture balances accuracy, latency, cost and data control.

4

Proof of concept

A working prototype runs on real data with scored results, so stakeholders can decide whether to proceed with evidence in hand.

5

Build and integration

The team builds the production application and connects it to the systems it depends on.

  • Orchestration layer and APIs
  • Retrieval pipeline or fine-tuned model
  • User interface and feedback capture
  • Integrations with CRM, ERP, help desk or data platforms
6

Testing, red teaming and guardrails

InnovationM runs regression tests, prompt-injection and jailbreak checks, and load tests, then tunes guardrails before go-live.

7

Deployment and monitoring

The system is deployed on your chosen cloud or private infrastructure, with dashboards for quality, latency, usage and cost.

8

Continuous improvement

User feedback, new data and new model releases feed regular evaluation, so quality holds and costs fall as the system matures.
